A father gives his costumed son a sip of ceremonial, fermented mare's milk after he rode to victory in a 20km race at a traditional naadam festival on a remote pass near Muren, Mongolia. A victory in these competitions brings great family pride and to increase his odds, the boy rode barefoot and bareback.
